Awards and Honors Across Weill Cornell Medicine - Week of July 15 - July 22

Trophies

Drs. Dan Landau, assistant professor of medicine and of physiology and biophysics, and James Lo, assistant professor of medicine, have received American Society for Clinical Investigation Council Young Physician-Scientist Awards. The award recognizes up to 40 scientists annually who receive career-development research support from the National Institutes of Health or similar awards from other organizations, are early in their first faculty appointment, and have made notable achievements in their research. Winners receive funding to attend the Association of American Physicians, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and the American Physician Scientists Association joint meeting, scheduled from April 15 — 17 in Chicago. The organizations honored the winners at a special reception and offered them an exclusive poster session to present their work.

Dr. Jeffrey Milsom, chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery, the Jerome J. DeCosse M.D. Distinguished Professor of Surgery and professor of surgery, received the 2015 Service and Leadership Award from Michael's Mission, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the quality of life and treatment options for those suffering from colorectal cancer through education, research and patient support. Dr. Milsom accepted the award during the organization's annual benefit dinner in December.
