Dr. Donald J. D'Amico, chairman of ophthalmology, the John Milton McLean Professor of Ophthalmology and a professor of ophthalmology, was awarded the Retina Research Foundation's Pyron Award, which recognizes outstanding vision scientists whose work contributes to knowledge about vitreoretinal disease. Dr. D'Amico will receive the award during the American Society of Retina Specialists' annual meeting in August, where he will also deliver the Gertrude D. Pyron Lecture. The Retina Research Foundation aims to reduce retinal blindness worldwide by funding programs in research and education.
Dr. Maura Frank, an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics, received an Our Town Thanks You Award on March 10 from the Upper East Side community newspaper Our Town. The annual awards recognize Upper East Side community members who have made a positive difference in the New York City neighborhood. Dr. Frank was honored for her commitment to patient care, dedication to fixing pressing human health concerns, and passion for community outreach over the last several decades.
