Du Cheng, a third-year M.D.-Ph.D. student, has been awarded the 2016 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. The fellowship selects recipients — who are 30 years or younger, come from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds, and are all naturalized citizens, green card holders, the children of immigrants, or undocumented young people who entered the United States as children — who have the potential to make significant contributions to U.S. society, culture or their academic field. Cheng will receive $90,000 to support his education.
