Awards and Honors

Dr. Emilio Carrillo, an associate professor of clinical medicine, received the American Medical Association’s Pride in the Profession Award during its annual meeting in June in Chicago. The annual award honors physicians who demonstrate commitment to caring for patients through their professional practice and active volunteerism within underserved populations. The association works to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

Dr. Thomas Ciecierega, an assistant professor of pediatrics, was a featured speaker and course director at this year’s Pediatric and Adolescent Foregut Interdisciplinary Symposium, hosted June 25-26 in Mainz, Germany, and organized by the IPOKRaTES Foundation. The foundation strives to provide excellent biomedical education, nurture young researchers and scientists, and engage in issues of health and education, social justice and human dignity worldwide.

Dr. Vishwas A. Singh, an assistant professor of medicine, and Dr. Fred Pelzman, an associate professor of clinical medicine, received 2015 Physician of the Year awards from the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Department of Nursing in conjunction with Weill Cornell Medicine’s Recruitment, Retention and Recognition Council. These awards are given annually to recognize physicians who consistently practice with nurses in a collaborative and collegial manner.
