Dr. Yuhua Bao, an associate professor of healthcare policy and research and of healthcare policy and research in psychiatry, was appointed to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's study section on Healthcare Effectiveness and Outcomes Research on March 31 for a two-year term. The agency aims to produce evidence to make healthcare safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable and affordable. This study section focuses on the goal of improving healthcare quality by accelerating implementation of patient-centered outcomes research.
Dr. Jeremy Dittman, the Nancy M. and Samuel C. Fleming Research Scholar in Intercampus Collaborations and an associate professor of biochemistry and of neuroscience, received the Samuel C. and Nancy M. Fleming Research Scholar Award in Intercampus Collaborations on May 13 at a Fleming Family Foundation Board of Trustees meeting. The award provides outstanding junior and mid-level faculty members with financial support early in their careers.
Dr. O. Wayne Isom, the Terry Allen Kramer Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, received an American Heart Association Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Heart & Stroke Ball on June 16 for his work in cardiothoracic surgery. The annual award honors physicians who are leading efforts to advance the association's mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Dr. Susan Pannullo, an associate professor of clinical neurological surgery and an adjunct assistant professor of neurological surgery, was elected to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons' Board of Directors for a three-year term at the May general meeting. The association is a scientific and educational association focused on advancing the specialty of neurological surgery.
