The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Simulation Team was recognized on Aug. 22 by NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with a Quality and Patient Safety Star Award. The award recognizes individual staff or teams across all disciplines that improve patient outcomes and prevent patient harm.
Dr. Sima Toussi, an assistant professor of pediatrics, was elected councilor of the Infectious Diseases Society of New York for a two-year term that began in June. The society brings together the community of infectious diseases specialists practicing in metropolitan New York with the goal of responding to public health crises more effectively. It also strives to be a resource of information on infectious diseases for local officials and serves as a conduit between the New York City Department of Health and infectious disease specialists.
Dr. John Walkup, the DeWitt Wallace Senior Scholar and a professor of psychiatry, and his colleagues have received designation from the National Tourette Syndrome Association to be a Tourette Syndrome Association Center of Excellence. This program seeks to improve the quality of life of people with Tourette syndrome and tic disorders by promoting the highest level of care, research, education/awareness and outreach/advocacy in the United States.
