Dr. Phyllis August, the Ralph A. Baer Professor of Medical Research, professor of medicine in obstetrics and gynecology and professor of medicine, recently served on the Task Force on Hypertension in Pregnancy for The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The task force's report, published in the November issue of Obstetrics and Gynecology, provides a set of guidelines for the management of hypertension in pregnancy with evidence-based recommendations for the clinical practice setting. The task force consisted of 17 clinician-scientists from a variety of fields in medicine.
Dr. Antonio M. Gotto, Jr., dean emeritus, co-chairman of the Weill Cornell Board of Overseers, the Lewis Thomas University Professor and the University Professor of Medicine, has been awarded the John Phillips Memorial Award for Outstanding Work in Clinical Medicine from the American College of Physicians, a national organization of internists. The award was presented at the organization's annual convocation ceremony on April 10 in Orlando, Fla. The John Phillips Memorial Award was established by ACP's Board of Regents in 1929 and is bestowed for outstanding work in clinical medicine. The American College of Physicians is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States.
