Dr. Eloise Chapman-Davis, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, was awarded the Health Equity Awareness and Advocacy in Gynecologic Oncology Award by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO). The award recognizes an individual who is synonymous with advocacy for diversity and health equity in gynecologic cancer. The SGO’s mission is to prevent and treat gynecologic cancers with equity, thereby improving lives through advocacy, engagement, education, research and collaboration.
Dr. David Lyden, the Stavros S. Niarchos Professor in Pediatric Cardiology and professor of pediatrics, was the recipient of an award and visiting professorship from the Princess Lilian Foundation. Created by Belgium’s Princess Lilian de Réthy, the foundation sponsors the professorship for prominent scientists to visit Belgian Universities, give lectures and interact with student-investigators. Honorees are selected based on demonstrated excellence in medical sciences and breakthroughs in research, vision, opinion leadership as well as didactic capability, including towards young investigators.
Dr. Geraldine McGinty, the E. Darracott Vaughn, Jr., M.D. Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and professor of clinical radiology, was awarded an ACR Gold Medal from the American College of Radiology. The medal is in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the field of radiology and outstanding service to the ACR. Dr. McGinty was the first woman to be elected chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors in 2018. Founded in 1923, the ACR represents more than 41,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists.
Dr. Madeline Sterling, associate professor of medicine, received a 2024 Community-Engaged Practice and Innovation Award from the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement. The awards recognize Cornell faculty who have developed community-engaged learning, leadership or research activities that create curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students. The mission of the Einhorn Center is to be the hub for community engagement at Cornell, supporting a university culture where students, faculty, staff and partners work together to create a better world.
