Dr. Jessica Ancker, an associate professor of healthcare policy and research, was elected a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. The college comprises elected fellows who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of biomedical informatics.

Diana Delgado, the associate director for information, education and clinical services at the Samuel J. Wood Library, received the 2017 Estelle Brodman Academic Librarian of the Year Award from the Medical Library Association. The award recognizes an academic medical librarian at mid-career level who demonstrates significant achievement, the potential for leadership and continuing excellence. The association fosters excellence in the professional practice and leadership of health sciences library and information professionals in order to enhance the quality of health care, education, and research throughout the world.

Dr. Neera Gupta, an associate professor of pediatrics, was in February appointed to council of the Society for Pediatric Research, representing gastroenterology and nutrition. As a council member, Dr. Gupta will help manage and administer society affairs, including promoting its rules and regulations. The appointment is a three-year term that begins in May. The society aims to foster the research and career development of investigators engaged in creating new knowledge that advances the health and well-being of children and youth, through providing a forum for presentation and dissemination of innovative ideas and research at the society’s annual meeting.

Dr. Samuel Merrick, an associate professor of clinical medicine, won a 2016 Dr. Linda Laubenstein HIV Clinical Excellence Award from the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute for his contributions to clinical excellence in the state. The award, established to honor Manhattan physician Dr. Laubenstein’s pioneering work during the early years of the AIDS epidemic, highlights the contributions of clinicians whose record of service has been extraordinary.

Dr. Fabrizio Michelassi, chairman of the Department of Surgery and the Lewis Atterbury Stimson Professor of Surgery, won the 2016 Commemorative Award from the American College of Surgeons, Governors Circle and Fellows Leadership Society. Dr. Michelassi received his award at the 2016 ACS Foundation Donor Recognition Luncheon.
