Awards and Honors Across Weill Cornell Medicine: Week of Nov. 11 - Nov. 18

Dr. Geraldine McGinty, an assistant professor of clinical radiology, was named one of Irish America magazine’s 2016 Healthcare & Life Sciences 50. The distinction honors Irish-American innovators who are leading the way in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Dr. McGinty was honored Oct. 5 at a reception in New York.

Dr. Carl Nathan, chairman of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, the R.A. Rees Pritchett Professor of Microbiology, and a professor of microbiology and immunology and of medicine, won the International Cytokine and Interferon Society’s 2016 Seymour and Vivian Milstein Award for Excellence in Interferon and Cytokine Research. Dr. Nathan was honored for his pioneering work in immunology, microbiology, infectious disease and global health, with his research showing the immune system’s response to infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis standing out in particular. Dr. Nathan, one of three honorees, received his award at the annual ICIS meeting Oct. 16 in San Francisco.
