Dr. Leonard Girardi, chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the O. Wayne Isom Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and a professor of cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Mary Roman, a professor of medicine, and Dr. Richard Devereux, a professor of medicine, received the Marfan Foundation's Hero with a Heart Award on April 14 at the foundation's annual Heartworks Gala in New York. The physicians, who comprise the Weill Cornell Medicine Cardiac Care Team, were lauded for their continuous care of patients with Marfan syndrome, familial aortic aneurysm, mitral valve prolapse and related conditions. The Hero with a Heart Award is presented to individuals who have significantly helped the foundation achieve victories for people with Marfan syndrome and related disorders.

Dr. Quynh Truong, an associate professor of radiology and an assistant professor of medicine, was named a fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. The designation recognizes evidence of ongoing interest and contribution in cardiovascular diseases through cardiovascular computed tomography research, education or patient care following completion of training.
