Dr. Maria Bustillo, an associate professor of clinical anesthesiology, was appointed vice chair of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists Residents Research Contest Committee. The society is comprised of clinicians and researchers dedicated to advancing the specialty of anesthesiology and providing the safest and highest quality patient care to the citizens of New York State. The committee is tasked with identifying and evaluating prospective contest winners.

Dr. Matthew Fink, chairman of the Department of Neurology, the Louis and Gertrude Feil Professor in Clinical Neurology, and a professor of clinical neurology, received the American Austrian Foundation's 2016 Humes Visiting Professorship. The foundation announced Dr. Fink's honor on Dec. 2 at its annual gala. The organization seeks to bridge the knowledge gap by providing qualified individuals with fellowships to pursue postgraduate education in medicine, media and the arts.

Dr. Anne Moore, a professor of clinical medicine, served as president of the American Clinical and Climatological Association's 128th annual meeting, becoming the third woman to do so. Dr. Moore also delivered the meeting's Presidential Address, "The History of the Climatological." The organization, limited to 250 members nationwide, is an honorary society of academic clinicians who have demonstrated a high level of integrity and professionalism as well as a desire to nurture warmth, diversity and friendship.

Dr. Arash Salemi, an associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery, was appointed to American College of Surgeons' Council for the New York Chapter in November. The organization is the largest scientific and educational association of surgeons in the world, founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.
